GOD REMEMBERS!

"For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises" (Hebrews 6:10-12, NASB).

It is not unusual for Kingdom laborers to become discouraged in their efforts. Appearance often seems to affirm we are wasting our time expending ourselves for the work of the Lord. Many of God's servants have toiled in the Lord's vineyard
without the benefit of kindred spirits. On one occasion, Elijah thought he was the only one standing for the Lord (1 Kgs 19:10-14). On another occasion, Paul had to stand before his enemies alone, with all others forsaking him (2 Tim 4:16). The greatest champions for Jesus have sometimes had their work maligned, and their labors forgotten. When such times occur, we need the comfort of the message of this text.

No work done for Christ is pointless or vain! God sees it, and remembers it. Our text announces He is not "unjust," or unrighteous, to forget what is done for Him. When, for example, we minister to His people, it is NOT always met with favorable
responses and expressions of thanksgiving. For this reason, some have cast the work of God aside, demanding that they be appreciated by their peers if their labors are to continue. Discouragement makes us foolish in our reasoning. Think of the glory of this text!

God will remember your labors publically, in the great and notable day of the Lord. They will be met with His "Well done, good and faithful servant!" There is not the slightest possibility this will not occur!

Our posture in life, therefore, is to be one of patient continuance in well doing. The confidence of faith is to dominate our hearts as we expend our energies for Him "until the end." Let sluggishness and slothfulness be banished from our ranks! When you grow weak from the battle, and are tempted to reduce your efforts, encourage yourself in the Lord as David did (2 Sam 30:6). The Lord sees your labors, and will not forget them. Hold on, then. Run the race with patience, and keep your hand on the plow!

PRAYER POINT: Father, in the name of Jesus, give me grace to glorify Your name by a strong faith, a tender heart, and consistent labor.
