GOD IS ABLE!

"Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy" -- Jude 24

From one perspective, it seems trite to talk about the ability of God. There really is no question about what God is able to do. "With God, all things are possible" (Mk 10:27). However, faith must take hold of this reality in order for us to profit from it. The circumstances of life often seem to belie the affirmation, "God is able." The Holy spirit, however, affirms the truth in order to break through the mists of mortal confusion. "God IS able!"

Jude, the brother of our Lord and James (Matt 13:55; Jude 1), strengthens us with the affirmation of Omnipotence. Through the Spirit he assures us God is fully capable of keeping us from falling. Blessed promise, indeed! Paul said of the weakest believer, "God is able to make him stand" (Rom 14:4). He further affirmed God "always causeth us to triumph in Christ" (2 Cor 2;14). This is good news to those who take seriously the solemn injunction to be "faithful until death" (Rev 2:10).

If the jostling and abrasiveness of life has made you feel unsure of your standing in Christ, take heart! It is your faith that is the victory, not your ability! It is what God is able to do that will make you stable, not what you are able to do! Lift up your eyes to the hills "from whence cometh your help" (Psa 121;1). The Lord is able to keep you from falling, declining, or losing ground! But He must have your eye–your attention–to do so. He promises, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye" (Psa 32:8). He will direct you around pitfalls, alerting you to dangers by shedding light upon your way. You will not stumble if you walk in His light (John 11:9). He IS able to "keep you from falling."

However, this is not all! He is also able to "present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy." Oh, what child of God is there who does not long to be totally pure in His sight? This is no vain desire! Our God is able to do this! He is able to make you stand before His judgment seat arrayed in white, so that the eye of Omniscience can see no flaw in you–not a single spot of contamination or weakness! If that is what you want, that is what you can have. That reality is accessible to faith!

Think of the "exceeding joy" that will flood your soul when you stand pure and spotless before the "presence of His glory." Now, armed with that glorious prospect, throw yourself into the good fight of faith! GOD IS ABLE!

PRAYER POINT: Father, in Jesus' name, give me grace to see the reality of Your ability, and strength to lay hold of it.
