THE LAW OF FAITH

"Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law" (Romans 3:21-28, NASB).

CONCLUSION

The "law [or principle] of faith" is unique. It differs from all other laws. It, and it alone, is effective in appropriating righteousness for the individual. This is a law that depends upon God, not humanity. It is one that, by nature, excludes human boasting. Where such boasting is excluded, trust can flourish, and hope can dominate.

Faith can believe God when there is no apparent reason to do so. It can see beyond the clouds, and scales the mountain of impossibility. Faith can face a giant, a den of lions, or a furnace of fire--and do so in confidence. It brings the "Well done" from God, and writes ones name in the book of life.

"The law of faith" is the only principle of life honored in heaven. It forbids the flesh to boast or dominate. It views the promises of God personally, and does not hesitate to embrace them. When God declares men are righteous because of the accomplishments of Another, faith accepts it because God said it. The law of faith dictates how the mind thinks and what the will chooses. It acknowledges the poverty of nature and clings to the omnipotence of Deity.

I encourage you to "fight the good fight of faith," and thus "lay hold on eternal life" (1 Tim 6:12). Disdain anything and everything that inhibits faith. Eagerly pursue what strengthens your faith. You are always the better for believing, and always the worse for not believing!

PRAYER POINT: Father, through Jesus Christ, I thank You for the effectiveness and joy of faith.
