THE FATE OF MAN

~ Inspired by Hebrews 9:27a, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die . . . " and Tennyson's "Tears, idle tears." ~

The only language I have to use
Is a cry from the heart and a tear from the eye
And naught to do but cry and cry
And morn the death of ones loved

I have a comfort
In this do I hope
That I mourn not as one without a hope
And I will see them soon again

But until that time
I have to wait
And wait I will until that date
When my soul will fly from earthen shell

I don’t want to see another die
I want not a reason to heave and sigh
Loved ones are born, they live and die
Such is the fate of man.
