THE STEWARDSHIP OF TIME
1 Corinthians 4:3
"It is required in stewards that a man be found faithful"
Time is something many do not consider when thinking of the many gifts which God has given us. Whether believer or unbeliever, all are stewards of time. Indeed, everything we do uses time, whether it be actions or meditation. The things we do and think can either be a hindrance to our spirit, or bring us closer to Christ.
Even in those things wherein seems no harm, caution must be taken! We are stewards of time. Thinking that we can live cyclically, or seasonally, to God is foolish and unworthy of the smallest amount of consideration, for it is impossible. That is why it is vital that we use our time participating in the things of God, for spiritual virtues cannot be turned on like a light switch.
You cannot make yourself be spiritual. That is why Law was ineffective to accomplish righteousness. It depended on your own strength and ability. Consistency comes by grace, not law! This is a great blessing, for we are now living under grace.
No one can merely take time for God, as if doing God a favor, or, in your mind guaranteeing your way to heaven. God is looking for honest and good hearts, for when one loves Christ it is both joy and peace to be in His presence.
Godly men have always been careful of how they used their time, as was Paul. We, who are in Christ have committed our lives to God. In doing so, we commit our time. This world struggles to get our focus off God and cause us to spend our time on vain things. But all the world displays cannot even compare to the riches which are laid up in heaven for those who love Christ.
Now, we commune with our Lord while in these temples of clay. But we have a hope that soon we will be rewarded for the labors of our time and partake of a communion which can only be when we have put on immortality.
